How to nyfw
HOW DO YOU SECURE AN INTERNSHIP?
First, Write up a short paragraph about your background and any experience you have in the fashion industry, similar to a cover letter. (WHO? WHAT? WHY? HOW?) This can be copied and pasted for multiple applications. Keep it to the point and express gratitude.
Second, Choose which brands you will be reaching out to. You can be selective if you choose but if you reach out to 20, only 5 may respond. Find their press email from Instagram, LinkedIn, or the brand website.
Third, Reach out to the brand's press email, DM's, or customer service if you can't find it, paste your bio, and attach your resume.
TIPS
Begin reaching out as soon as the CFDA drops the upcoming NYFW schedule
Have a professional and updated resume to send on demand
Try to find the brands press and production manager via LinkedIn
What are ways to get involved?
Dresser - understanding what garments you will dress your model in, how many changes there are, mapping out the fasting route
Social Media - You take over the brand's social media accounts to capture what is happening live
General Intern - This includes being on standby for the (smaller) designer's needs. Roles include set-up, greeting, sewing, working other events, etc.
Journalist - You can get access to exclusive spaces through press and media. For example, ink magazine.
